Extended Length Tapes - Base Conversion prices

VHS full-size tapes, and some 8mm tapes can contain more than 2 hours of video. The maximum capacity varies based on the type of tape being used and the recording speed that is used.

Our pricing is based on the amount of video footage that is converted, not the maximum capacity of the tape itself. And, we use a flat rate for the base conversion charge at checkout time, regardless of the amount of actual video that is on the tape (since this often isn't known up front).

Extended Length Tapes - Ordering Guidelines

If you think it's likely that a tape contains over 2 hours of video, it's best to go ahead and make that choice up front, by selecting "Extended" at checkout time. This helps to ensure that we capture all of the video, regardless of where it appears on the tape, and that we closely track the footage.

If you think the tape contains less than 2 hours of video, then go with the standard option. If we find during processing that more footage is present, we'll reach out via email to ask what you would like us to do. We won't bill for any extra video footage that we find unless we're sure you want it.

Extended Length Tapes - Add-on Options

Summary: At checkout time, you pay the add-on option amount applicable for just the initial 2-hours of video. The surcharge applicable for any additional video footage found on the tape beyond 2 hours is billed separately once the tape has been processed, and the amount of footage is known.

When an add-on option is purchased, it is assumed that this option should apply to all video that is found to exist on the tape. Surcharges will be assessed for each 2 hour segment of video (beyond the initial 2 hours, which was pre-paid at checkout time).

Thus, surcharges apply to the amount of video footage that we find beyond the standard 2 hours. Also note that this is calculated on "even" 2-hour thresholds (i.e. there is no proration for the last segment, which will usually be less than 2 hours).

Once we've fully processed your order and know the full durations of each video, we'll bill separately for any add-ons that were selected, to cover the extra footage actually found on the tape.

Extended Length Tapes - Example

Here is an example of how this would work for a tape that is found to have 5 hours of video:

The cost of the AI-Enhanced Bundle for 2 hours or less of video is $70.

So, at checkout time, you would pay the flat rate of $49.99 for the base "extended length" conversion, and $70 for the AI-Enhanced Bundle add-on (covering the first 2 hours of video).

Then, after we've processed the tape and know that the full duration is 5 hours, we would notify you of this via email, and bill you for extra add-on surcharges in the amount of $140 ($70 x 2).

The total cost of the conversion would be $259.99:

- $49.99 base conversion, paid up front at checkout time

- $70 AI-Enhanced option for 1st 2 hours, paid up front at checkout time

- $140 AI-Enhanced option for the remaining 3 hours of video, billed separately
